About Sophie Price
Emerging from the ever-growing Philadelphia music scene, Sophie Price is a transcendental artist whose work blends her interests in jazz and indiepop. Her hard-hitting emotive lyrics and her tastefully crafted instrumentals combine to create a musical experience that is both sensitive and powerful. When placed over intricate musical landscapes, her impressive vocals captivate new ears and nourish returning listeners.
While acting as the bassist for esteemed local bands including Cheap52, Cold Soul, & Karlia, Price has worked to develop her own musical skills and lyrical character independently, writing and recording countless demos in her Drexel University apartment. She cites early influences like Phoebe Bridgers, Amy Winehouse, & Lizzy McAlpine, whose music impacted Price both sonically and lyrically. Her early works were both awe-inducing and heart-wrenching, catching the attention of local musician and producer diet lemon, who has helped her develop and record her upcoming debut release, the alluring single ‘what it feels like.’
With roots as a singer-songwriter, Price’s work contains intimate truths about the love, loss, magic, and tragedy experienced by today’s twenty-somethings. Although her words may depict stories from the life of a young woman, Price’s work maintains a generational charm that can be enjoyed by sentimentalists of all ages. As her catalog of unreleased songs continues to grow by the day, Price becomes more and more eager to share her art with her growing base of supporters and strives to reach a wider audience of listeners. You can catch Sophie Price on tour this spring with Ash Tuesday supporting Ella Jane’s ‘marginalia’ tour and stream her debut single ‘what it feels like,’ released on March 14th, 2023.
